Our Class 2 Maths program builds strong foundational skills through engaging and practical learning. Students explore Number Theory concepts like place value, ordering numbers, counting sequences, and rounding. They develop proficiency in Operations with Numbers, including addition, subtraction, multiplication as repeated addition, and division through equal sharing. In Fractions, they learn to recognise equal parts and understand simple fraction relationships. Through Number Patterns, students identify, create, and predict sequences, improving logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Number Theory

  • Place value of two and three digit numbers
  • Order two and three digit numbers
  • Counting forward and backwards from a given number to 100 and to 1000
  • Round numbers to the nearest 100
  • Use the terms 'less-than' and 'more-than' to describe number sequences

Number Patterns

  • Count forwards by threes, fours, sixes, sevens, eights and nines from any starting point
  • Count forward and backwards by twos, threes and fives from any starting point
  • Describe patterns with numbers
  • Determine a missing number in a number pattern

Fractions

  • Recognise that fractions are equal parts of the whole
  • Determine that one-quarter is half of a half

Operations with Number

  • Solve one and two digit addition and subtractions
  • Model multiplication as repeated addition
  • Model division by sharing equal amounts
